Baden-Baden
Nestling on the French border, the historic town of Baden-Baden is a charming blend of French and German cultures, mixing its grand Art Nouveau villas with a wave of modern boutiques and chic cafés. Elegant and sophisticated, Baden-Baden offers a delightful townscape of tree-lined avenues, grand buildings and boutiques alongside its legendary thermal baths. Explore the ruins of the 2000-year-old Roman baths; visit the Belle Epoque Kurhaus and splash some cash at the extravagant Baden Baden Casino; or relax in the flower-lined parklands lining the Oos River. Famous for its historical significance as one of the great spa towns of the 19th century, Baden-Baden now enjoys a reputation for its outstanding range of cultural performances.
Baden-Baden Festspielhaus
With a capacity of 2,500 seats, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden is one of the largest classical music venues in Europe. The building features a unique architecture as it sits on the bed of a former railway station, whose neo-classicist structure serves as the entrance hall of the Festspielhaus. The reconstructed Festspielhaus was designed by the Viennese architect Wilhelm Holzbauer in the mid-1990’s and is known worldwide for its excellent acoustics.
